After 9 years.....

Methinks that there is a leak in my friend Dave's emotional Hoover Dam. Warn the villagers. This is the equivalent of John Wayne handing out hugs and HAD to be documented. Not sure what Freud would have to say about this, but a song from the rising pop crooner Rhianna comes to mind... "I hate how much I love you." Brills. New ringtone.

Dear Mr. Angerer

You are a sick, sick man. What the hell is wrong with you. It will probably be at least a month before I am able to eat cheese of any sort again. And I liked cheese. Thanks a heap.

Sincerely

A non-breast-milk consumer

PS- I am reminded of a Jurassic Park quote "you were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn't stop to think if you should." And now you've done ruined cheese for countless Americans.

When a door closes.......

Oh Dan. Well I finally finished The Lost Symbol. It was ummm...good. It kept me reading, had some intense moments, introduced some provocative schools of thought and in my opinion was a better read than Angels and Demons. It just seemed really familiar....... Lets see.....Crazy 24-hour adventure running around to all these places in a city rich with historical context? Check. An ambiguous attraction/relationship with a pretty dark-haired woman scientist/historical genius with whom he has a connection with her father/brother? Check. Fringe characters being offed ridiculously easy but main characters laughably surviving situations with staggering odds of survival? Check. A Shakespeare-comedy-esque ending where EVERY possible loose end is tied up and everyone is happy and content, even after losing your hand and watching your evil and vengeful superhuman son die? Check. Leaving provocative and potentially controversial religious and scientific assertions hanging in the air most likely to provoke discussion, debate and sell copies? Check. Well Dan, you sucked me in thrice now. And don't get me wrong...I thoroughly enjoyed Da Vinci Code, the first book of yours I read. But if it's all the same to you, and I am sure it is given the millions you have made from movies and practically living on the Best Seller lists, I am going to go ahead and call it quits with your books. I mean its not them it's me. I am just looking for something new that I haven't already experienced..... Not once, not twice, but three times. I'm sure you understand.

It's over. We broke up.

The other day I woke up and realized something was wrong. And it got worse throughout the day. There was a spot on my upper-mid back that was killing me and got worse as the day went on. It was nagging throughout that evening and I finally broke down and got on WebMD. Now I am no idiot. I know that WebMD is a dangerous tool for those of us who are prone to worrying and freaking out about stuff, but I needed answers because it felt like it was like inside my ribs. On that list was a possible 16 diagnoses which included a pulmonary embolism, kidney failure, cancer and some rupture having to do with your lungs. Luckily I had waited until really late that night to get on and was so exhausted that sleep was my escape from friffing over what killer disease I was facing. Luckily my doctor's appointment was first thing the next morning and come to find out it was just a few torn muscles. Consider this our final break-up, WebMD. It's over. Don't call. Don't text. Don't write. Don't drive by my house and please don't try to get in good with my friends in hopes they will persuade me to take you back. If you want the bracelet back that you gave for me with our names engraved on it, I will ship it. I am going to go ahead and keep the diamond earrings you gave me, as a parting gift, if it's all the same to you. Good luck in all you do and I wish you health and happiness.

Butterfly nets, sugar plums and kittens

I am a writer. And as a writer I sometimes use the craft to get frustrations out ....which has translated to the dozens of crazy-grumpy-old-lady-with-seven-cats-who-hates her-grandkids-neighbors-paperboy-and-the-government type rants on this blog. Like here, here and here. Oh ya and this one too.....and definitely this one. We'll stop there, but you get the point. So to counter that I am hereby declaring that I will be publicly naming something that I like or love about life for the next 100 days in the new feature 100 Days of Things I love (see right). Was this originally my idea? No. Will I be the only one who has taken on the challenge to succeed? For sure, (wink). So get ready for lambs, flowers, puppies and rainbows.....and oh ya, I'll see you in hell Craw!
